English is a widely used language... if I am not mistaken, next to Mandarin, it is the 2nd most used language in the world. Mandarin ranks at number one purely because of China's population. I think that English is the most geographically, widespread used language in the world. Hence, it comes as a shock when you come across blatant bad English in a developed country. Engrish.com is a site which publishes pictures of bad English in Japan. This came as a shock to me as Japan is a developed country and has the means and resources to hire English translators. Did the people who were responsible for putting up these messages not have the resources to get a proper English translation? Or perhaps, they didn't care whether the English was correct or not. Maybe they just assumed that their English was correct? Some of the pictures on the site are hysterical. The ones below are only a sampling of what is available on this ever growing site.
