Puffergal, The Mutant

OK OK OK... I admit it... I was a 9 pound baby!! A new mum's horror huh? So I have been told. But hey... to my defense, I was inside her... I had no control on what she was eating... no control what so ever as to what she was feeding me whilst I was inside. Well, my being a 9 pound baby has been the source of jokes for my boyfriend. Well, in a good sense... I don't really mind. It is fun sometimes. You see, I am weird... that's right WEIRD.

For example, I am large for a female, an Asian female that is. I stand at 5' 4.5" in my bare feet and thus, I am taller than half of the population in this country, be it male or female. Asians tend to be small... in this country, I am a giant. No kidding!! Buying clothes is proving to be a challenge for me in this country. In Australia, I used to wear a "small" and now, I find that I have to wear a "large" or "extra large". My boyfriend loves to kid with me about this fact... hey... I am large for a female here and for the record, when I say large, I don't bean fat . He attributes the fact that I am large to the fact that I was a nine pound baby.

Then, I am also double jointed. My arms can twist in such a way that the back of my elbows can face the ceiling... not to mention the front of my elbows as well. My arm can do 100 degree twist when I want it to. My knees are swayed back. My thumbs can be pushed back into the "C" position. For some weird reason, my boyfriend attributes this to the fact that I was a nine pound baby as well.

I am inherently clumsy... give me a corner of a table and I guarantee that I will find some weird way to connect that corner with some part of my body. I am the person you see tumbling down the stairs, the person who slips on wet surfaces despite the fact that I am wearing non-slip shoes etc.

OK... for my latest bout of weirdness... check this out... at the ripe old age of 26, I am now growing a tooth!! No kidding!! I just noticed it. It was probably in there for ages but it has just decided to surface. I don't have any wisdom teeth for they have all been pulled out (lack of mouth space). But recently, I discovered a lump in my gum... on the inner side, near my tongue. It was on the left side of my mouth and I thought that it could have been cancer or something (I also have an over active imagination... or I am a hypochondriac, depending on how you look at it). So I made a mad rush to the dentist... to have x-rays done. Turns out, I have a tooth, a premolar, growing under all my other teeth. Look at the picture... notice that there is a hole in the mould on the left of my teeth... see that dot at the end of the thick white line on the picture... in my gum? Well, that is where my tooth is coming out. I have a third premolar... and that is weird apparantly (according to the dentist). My dentist told me that I have two options... the first one, is WAYYYYYYY too expensive and the other involves me waiting for the tooth to grow out and then get surgery done on it. Apparently, this is going to be a tricky operation seeing that the tooth is growing in the middle of all my other teeth (the roots).

Why do I have a mould of my teeth you might ask... well, here is a picture of the entire set just for you . I had to have it done because I had to cap a tooth (one of my teeth broke a few years ago) and I asked the dentist if I could keep it. The dentist needed a mould of my teeth so that he could design the cap... in case you were wondering what a cap had to do with a mould of my teeth. Well, you never know when it might come in handy... I mean, I could get involved in a car wreck or something and I just might need a copy of my dental records for identification purposes. If that were the case, the relevant people need not go to my dentist... I have a copy of my teeth sitting on my bookcase .

If it isn't one thing, it is another thing... I am really starting to think that I am a mutant... a nine pound baby mutant according to my boyfriend .
