Anyways,
the way I figured it... ages and ages ago, when Malaysia was still an unknown
piece of land, there were tribes with leaders and such. Some were more
powerful than others (needless to say
).
So when a government started emerging, the most powerful of these leaders
emerged as "royalty". Well, that is my interpretation anyway. Well, we
(Malaysia) has one "agung"... a king if you will. These sultans take turns
in being the "agung". If I am not mistaken, the rotation time is four years
but I could be wrong about that one. We have a Prime Minister as well,
in case you are interested
.
Again, needless to say, these Sultans are fabulously rich. The get the taxes, own heaps and heaps of property, they don't pay taxes etc. They are the ones who reap in the benefits of the road tolls, the income tax etc. They have buildings and roads named after them etc. You get the picture right? And seeing that the Muslim culture allows each male to have four wives, you can imagine how many "royaltys" there are out there. Muslims like to reproduce at an amazing rate let me tell you. And if you are even remotely related to a sultan, you get special privileges!! There are so many people out there with titles e.g.. Tengku, Raja etc. They are very common. I am digressing from my story here. Lets move on.
Now, I learnt this a few days ago and trust me when I say that it is the 100% truth. Johor, the southern most state in Peninsula Malaysia has this really farked up Sultan. Apparently, this guy has killed people and has gotten away with it. Pardon the language when I say that he is absolutely farked in the head. He has killed his golf caddie. This happened after he managed a "wonderful" shot. The caddie apparently giggled and the Sultan got mad and beat him to death with his golf club. Of course, there were witnesses and they didn't do anything. No one would dare say anything... I mean, he is the Sultan after all.... bah if you ask me. This Sultan also has this habit of shooting people if you over take him in his car. Now, trust me when I say that this is all true... I have heard it from too many people.
You know what the sad part is? No one is doing anything about it. The man gets away with murder... all he gets is a slap on the wrist and that is about it. He has been given warnings and the good news is that he isn't going to become agung... ever! Thank gawd for that. I can't imagine living in a country where the agung is a murderer. It is hard enough living in a country which permits a murderer to be a leader of a state. Sheesh!! Thank gawd I don't live in Johor (was there on a holiday).
Oh yes... all the leaders in this country are Muslim, the Malays... they are the majority in this country. The Chinese are the minority. Can you imagine living in fear of your leader? How sick is that?? Put the arse behind bars and throw away the key I say... death row is too good for him... let him suffer in prison!
